Dear Masters,
As the holiday season approaches, I often find myself returning to a state of mind shaped by the vision and understanding I have followed throughout my life.
I would like to share with you a part of myself—what in Asia is called “Tâm.” In English, it carries many meanings: heart, mind, inner self, and spirit. When you are alone and have no one to turn to, you return to your Tâm.
From April 1971 through May 1973, I lived deeply within this inner space. Those two formative years built the foundation of my life. They were difficult and lonely, but it was during that time that I committed myself to learning English so I could communicate the wisdom I was striving to understand.
There are a few truths that have remained with me, simple yet absolutely clear:
- Love
- Understanding
- Kindness
I believe these are the fundamental qualities behind every meaningful achievement. Wealth, knowledge, skills, and talents will arrive in their own time.
Once again, I wish each of you—and your families, loved ones, and students—a warm and wonderful holiday season.
With respect,
Master Thinh
